9 large squares or 12 smaller pieces

🍫 Ingredients

  • 120 g sugar (you can use half white, half brown sugar for more moisture)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs (at room temperature)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 140 g dark chocolate (70% cocoa works great)
  • Chocolate chunks (50g or as desired)
  • 65 g butter
  • 70 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tp cocoa powder

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 01

Preheat oven to 175 °C (345 °F) and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. 02

Melt butter and dark chocolate together over low heat or in a microwave. Let it cool slightly (important for fudgy texture).

  3. 03

In a bowl, lightly whisk the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt — just until combined, don't overbeat (overmixing adds too much air and makes them cakey).

  4. 04

Stir in the melted chocolate mixture gently.

  5. 05

Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, fold carefully until just combined (stop mixing as soon as no dry spots remain).

  6. 06

    Fold in the chocolate chunks.

  7. 07

Pour the batter into the pan (20*20 cn), smoothing the top.

  8. 08

Bake for 18 minutes — the center should still look slightly underbaked; it will set as it cools.

  9. 09

Cool completely before slicing (for perfect edges, chill in the fridge first).
